Set your default model
Every Kurator run starts from a run bar with a live cost estimate and an AI Configuration panel. Pick your model there — free defaults run at no cost — and save the configuration that follows you across sessions.
How model selection workslink
If you never touch the settings, Kurator runs on the platform default model — a fast free-tier model managed by Kariant — and the run bar shows "Free on platform default". Choosing a different model, adding extended thinking, or enabling live-search grounding switches the run to metered billing in Koins.
The model list is split into Free Models (Klick aliases like Klick Fast, Klick Default, Klick Lite, Klick Balanced, Klick Smart) and Premium Models (deeper reasoning, code, retrieval, and long-document specialists). Free models never charge a model differential; premium picks bill usage-based, and Kurator features carry a 1.5× multiplier on metered costs.
Set it uplink
The AI Configuration panel is available from the tune button on the run bar of every Kurator module.
- 1Open any Kurator module (for example Search & Trends) and click the tune icon in the run bar.
- 2Pick a model from Free Models or Premium Models — each card shows its cost tier and context window.
- 3Adjust the run settings if you want: thinking budget, live-search grounding, fusion, context caching, output length, temperature, and response language.
- 4Review the Estimated Cost Per Request panel — it itemizes thinking and grounding costs with the Kurator multiplier applied, next to your balance.
- 5Click Apply & Save. Your AI settings are saved to your account and load automatically wherever you sign in; the selected model applies to the runs you start from that surface.
Pre-run estimates and balancelink
Back in the run bar, the estimate updates as you change configuration. If a metered run would exceed your balance, the run button is held and a Buy Koins shortcut appears — nothing is ever charged without the estimate shown first.
India accounts see amounts displayed in Sikka; the underlying metering is always Koins.

The platform default model is free for signed-in users, and every model listed under Free Models runs without a model differential. Charges only apply to premium model picks and paid extras like extended thinking or live grounding.

Yes. Apply & Save stores your AI configuration (thinking, grounding, output settings, language) to your account, so it loads wherever you sign in. Pick your model from the run bar's configuration panel on the surface you are running from.
What happens if I can't afford a run?expand_more
The run is blocked before it starts and a Buy Koins button appears. You can also just switch back to a free model — the run then costs nothing.
